Biodiesel markets

Several factors are fuelling worldwide interest in biodiesel. Among these are depleting fossil fuel reserves, rising oil prices, constrained refining capacity and environmental concerns.

Environmental issues include rising carbon emissions, which are known to contribute to global warming, and unacceptable levels of urban pollution that are contributing to the poor standards of human health around the world.

In response to these environmental concerns and issues related to improving opportunities for primary producers, a number of legislative initiatives have been implemented in the European Union, North America and the Asia-Pacific to assist in the rapid expansion of the biofuels industry in these regions.

Australia
In Australia, Government regulation supports the use of biodiesel blended in mineral diesel, where the resulting blend achieves the Australian diesel standard.

More than 200 million litres of diesel, blended with Australian Biodiesel Group Limited's biodiesel, have been sold to commercial, retail and government users in eastern Australia.
